My Chemical Romance are celebrating two decades of The Black Parade with an expanded anniversary edition of the landmark album, bringing together the original record, rare B-sides, and previously unreleased live recordings.
Originally released in October 2006, The Black Parade transformed My Chemical Romance from a successful emo and post-hardcore band into one of the defining rock acts of the era. Now, 20 years later, the band is revisiting the album with a collection that adds six bonus tracks to the original 14-song sequence.
The Black Parade (20th Anniversary) is scheduled for release October 23 through Reprise Records.
The bonus material includes three songs recorded during My Chemical Romance's 2007 Black Parade tour stop at Maxwell's in Hoboken, New Jersey. Among them is a previously unreleased live recording of "Someone Out There Loves You," a song long familiar to dedicated MCR fans under the name "Stay." The live version of "The Sharpest Lives" has already been released as the first preview of the anniversary collection.
The reissue also gathers three fan-favorite B-sides: "Heaven Help Us," "Kill All Your Friends," and "My Way Home Is Through You." The result is a collection that gives longtime fans another look at the material surrounding one of the band's most important albums.
The original album remains intact, featuring songs including "Dead!," "This Is How I Disappear," "Welcome to the Black Parade," "Cancer," "Mama," "Teenagers," "Disenchanted," and "Famous Last Words."
My Chemical Romance have also reunited with original Black Parade artist James Jean, who has created three new pieces of artwork for the anniversary release. The band described the new edition as a way of honoring the lasting impact of an album they could not have predicted would become so significant when they first recorded it.
“Twenty years ago, we wrote what would become The Black Parade,” the band said in a statement. “At the time, we could never have imagined what the record would mean for the band.”
The group added that the anniversary collection brings together everything they finished during the original sessions, while the new artwork revisits the visual world Jean helped create for the album.
For fans who have followed The Black Parade since its original release, the anniversary edition offers both familiar territory and a handful of deeper cuts. And with previously unavailable live recordings finally receiving an official release, the collection provides another snapshot of My Chemical Romance at the height of the era that made The Black Parade an enduring rock classic.
The Black Parade (20th Anniversary) arrives October 23, 2026.
